HP LaserJet M110w Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Ridiculous! I do NOT want to train for HP ... DO NOT need to read/ agree / sign-up for EVERYTHING!  ALL I want to do..Connect MY PRINTER ( that I paid for) to MY COMPUTER ( also pd for) - Just using usb cord. I DO NOT wish to Share it with anybody- Print pictures from my phone... I just want to be able to work ! That's all.

While the printer was unplugged - I connected the USB to my tower. THEN plugged it in. I'm on my 3rd try. It installs 3 times - different versions.

I don't want the WSD Driver or anything extra added. I have read in the past those have  security issues. So tired of reading manuals that do not help. Bottom line HP... YOU will make enough money on toner cartridges that you do not need to be able to connect to my computer & kill the printer whenever you want.

Hi @ANNOYED2000

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I hear you—and I completely get the frustration. You just want to plug in your printer and get to work, without all the extra fluff, sign-ups, or mystery drivers. Let’s cut through the noise and get your printer connected via USB, clean and simple—no WSD, no cloud, no sharing.

To connect your HP printer to your computer using a USB cord and avoid installing unnecessary software, follow these simple steps:

Connect the Printer:

  • Ensure that your printer is unplugged.
  • Connect one end of the USB cable to your computer and the other to your printer.
  • Plug in the printer and turn it on.

Install the Printer Driver:

  • Windows should automatically detect the printer and attempt to install the necessary drivers. Wait for this process to finish.
  • If the automatic installation does not work, visit the HP Support website and download the latest driver specific to your printer model.

Download and Install Drivers Manually (if needed):

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
  • Enter your printer model number and select the appropriate operating system.
  • Download the "Basic Driver" or "Full Feature Software and Drivers" depending on your preference. If you only want to connect and print, the Basic Driver is usually sufficient.

Setting Up the Printer:

  • Once the drivers are installed, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers in Windows.
  • Right-click on your printer and select “Printer properties” to adjust any settings if needed.

Print a Test Page:

  • Finally, try printing a test page to ensure everything is set up correctly. Right-click the printer in Devices and Printers, select “Printer properties,” and click “Print Test Page”.

This should allow you to use your printer via USB without installing any additional software or setting up network sharing.
