HP Deskjet 1010 Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

Using HP Smart Start and HP Smart but can't get Mac OS computer to communicate with HP Deskjet 1010 via a USB with UNI USB C Hub.  Updated iMac software. When run HP diagnostics, it just spins indefinitely.  When the print que opens, it shows the printer name at top but the box is blank and does not show any upcoming print jobs.

Hi,

Try following the Resolution section below, I believe this should help:

Thank you for the advice. I've followed the directions as best I can, yet still no able to print. It seems even if I download the printer software, the computer can't find the printer. Is it the USB C hub that's causing issue or is a HP Deskjet 1010 just not compatible?

The printer is compatible and the software above supports it, I suggest trying another USB cable another USB adapter which is likely the cause.

Hi this was really helpful, but now I have another issue.  The link you provided walked through installing a new driver that should be compatible with my printer (I checked and my printer was on the list) however when I try to go into system preferences and install my printer, Under Use: it says Choose a Driver and when I hit that it says "Select Software" or "Other.  With either option, I have no idea where to find the driver I installed.  Any suggestions?
