HP Photosmart D110
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

After moving, and setting up a new router in our house, my Mac desktop won't connect to the printer. A few times, I was able to re-enter the wireless network on the printer to print, but then the computer wouldn't remember the printer. I ended up deleting and trying to set up again, but then the printer wouldn't show up as available. I contacted Mac, upgraded software, installed printer with IP address and got it working again. I haven't used it in a few weeks, and now I'm having the same issue. When I go to print, it says "printer not found." I contacted Mac again, who insisted that I contact HP to download the drivers. I've been all over the HP website, tried unplugging the router, turning everything off and back on as suggested and that didn't help. I clicked a link somewhere that sent me back to Mac to download HP drivers, and after doing so, there was an error in installation and it didn't work. I've also followed instructions under "Installing the Driver in Mac OS X 10.7 and Later" which did not work either. I am at my wit's end. Can anyone help? And is there a way to chat with HP support without purchasing anything?

Thanks for posting on the HP Support Forums. MKazi is at your service.

I understand that your Mac computer does not connect to your HP Photosmart e-All-in-One Printer - D110. The printer is not found when you attempt to print.  Not to worry, I'll be glad to assist you.

I recommend you to update the Mac OS.

Secondly, verify that the LED light for wireless status on the printer (whether it is blinking or steady).

Also, it is better to verify that there are no potential sources of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth interference: https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT201542

If the wireless light is blinking then it means that the printer is not connected to the wireless network. In that case you may continue with the following steps.

NOTE: The printer can connect to 2.4 GHz wireless network.

Once the printer appears to be connected to the wireless network, you may remove and re-add the printer as Airprint by following the below steps:

Step 1: Remove multiple printers from the printer list

Check for multiple devices in the Printers list, and then remove any extra entries other than one in idle status.

  1. Search the Mac for Print, and then click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners in the list of results.

  2. Find the printer names that match your printer from the list of devices.

Figure : Printers and Scanner window with multiple names of a printer in the list

  3. If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button  at the bottom of the list. Leave one 'idle' printer in the list that matches your printer if available and use this printer as the Default printer.

  4. Try printing again.

    • If the printer prints, you can stop troubleshooting.

    • If the printer remains silent or displays an error, continue to the next step.

Step 2: Delete the existing print queue and add the printer

Remove the printer queue from the list of printers, and then add it again. Doing so creates a new printing session.

  1. Make sure your Mac is connected to the Internet.

  2. In the Printers list, click your HP printer, and then click the Minus button  to delete it.

  3. Click the Add button .

  4. Find and select the name of your printer from the Printer list, and then click Add to add your printer. Do not select an HP Fax driver.

NOTE: If your printer does not display in the list, make sure the printer is connected, turned on, has power, and is ready to print.

  5. Click Print Using or Use.

  6. Select AirPrint.

Your new printer queue displays in the Printers list in an Idle status .

  7. Try printing again.

    • If the printer prints, you can stop troubleshooting.

I genuinely hope this fixes the issue. Feel free to keep me posted.

All the best!

I am having the same problems. I have done all the troubleshooting steps, the wireless test report claims all is well and I am connected.  Except I do not see my printer in the add printer section, so I add the printer via the IP address that is on the wireless network test report. It still says the printer is not responding. Please advise?

@lilbrixta, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

  • Make sure the printer and the MAC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Check the connectivity between the printer and the MAC

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer
  2. On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box
  3. Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings
  4. Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost
  5. There should be 0% packet loss. Share the results. If 0% loss, then proceed to the next step.

Install the printer driver using Apple Software Update as it is not available in HP Support site

1.) Use the steps available here to update the software on Mac.

2.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

3.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

4.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.

5.) Click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

6.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

Select the name of your printer in the Use menu

7.) Try to print.

Let me know how this goes.
