macOS 11.0 Big Sur

A warning to anyone that is operating MacOS Big Sur 11.3.1 (the most recent upgrade).

After upgrading, my HP Smart App does NOT work on my Macbook Pro.

After spending hours on the phone with both Apple and HP,  it seems that HP is just not caught up to the Mac upgrade. I was told that there is no solution at the moment - so I cannot use the scanning functions of my printer LOL.

Has anyone else experienced this compatibility issue?

Beware before upgrading, especially if you need a functional printer for work like I do.

Just found out about this today.

This is bad, I can scan but cannot print.   I tried to delete HP apps on my iMac and reinstall to begin setup and nothing works.  I require the use of a printer for my work and cannot use.  There is no recourse!

HP Smart version 12.7.1 (554) doesn't launch on macOS after the latest update.

 

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling.

 

Also:

  • rm -fr ~/Library/Containers/com.hp.SmartMac ~/Library/Containers/com.hp.PSDrMonitor ~/Library/Application\ Scripts/com.hp.SmartMac ~/Library/Application\ Scripts/com.hp.PSDrMonitor
  • sudo find /private/var/folders/ -type d -iname '*SmartMac*' 2>/dev/null | xargs rm -fr
  • Removing all HP.com items from my macOS Keychain
  • Deleting my entire Safari history (HP Smart uses Safari for authentication)
  • Log out/log into account; Restart computer
  • Examine macOS logs:
    • log show --predicate 'process == "HP Smart"' --last 1m --info --debug 

But nothing is working. I know this HP Smart version works on a separate macOS 11 computer and a separate account on this same computer.

 

How do I factory reset HP Smart so that it launches?

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling.

 

Also tried rm -fr the directories com.hp.SmartMac and com.hp.PSDrMonitor from Library/Containers and "Library/Application Scripts".

 

Also tried logging out of account, rebooting, removing all possible Keychain items, deleting all Safari history.

 

But nothing is working. I know this HP Smart version works on a separate macOS 11 computer and a separate account on this same computer.
