Hello. Just upgraded to macOS Big Sur and no longer able print to my trusty HP Laserjet 1012. Unable to find drivers. Is there anyone out there who can help?! The 1012 is not AirPrint capable. HP Printer Driver v5.1 doesn't open in Big Sur. Am I out of luck? 15 years of wonderful, trouble free printing coming to and end!!

I ran into this back in August during the Big Sur public beta cycle. I ended up sharing the printer off of an old Windows 10 computer. Here's how I did it: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Setup-Software-Drivers/How-to-print-to-HP-LaserJet-1012-Printe...

Thanks Guido79. How did you get HP Print Drivers 5.1 to run in Big Sur? I've downloaded it, but when I go to run the .pkg, I get an error message "This volume does not meet the requirements for this update"

Hi,
Please follow below version of HP Easy Start, as soon as it launches open the top HP Easy Scan menu and select Uninstall HP Software.
Follow the steps on screen and then click on Set Up New Device and follow the steps to reinstall the printer:

This does not work. "We were not able to automatically locate any software options for this product. Please go to the HP Website and search for product solutions there."
The software does discover the 1012 via direct USB, or proxying through an Apple Airport. But neither way does it install drivers. When clicking through to "continue online" it shows a website saying everything was successful, but nothing was actually installed.

Just found a solution for my HP LaserJet 1012 printer's issue. Got this from a kind user over in the Apple Support forum.
Downloaded Gutenprint. https://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-print/
Installed their drivers.
In System Preferences>Printers deleted (-) the HP LaserJet 1012. Then added (+) Printer and in the Use section, selected Gutenprint driver. Now everything works!
My 15 year old HP LaserJet 1012 is still going strong!
