@entonylike and @ShlomiL I was able to get my HP Laserjet 1018 working with Big Sur following this article:
Open Apple menu > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and reset the print system by right clicking anywhere in the printer list and selecting “Reset printing system…” which will delete all your printers. Caution: this will remove all printers/scanners in the list. I only use the HP LaserJet 1018, so this wasn’t a concern but if you have multiple printers you may want to try just deleting the HP LaserJet 1018 to start and follow the rest of these instructions.
- In finder, go to the hard drive then ~/Library/Printers/ folder and move the “hp” folder to the trash and empty the trash.
- Download and run the HP Uninstaller to remove all HP drivers:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/HP_Uninstaller...
Instructions can be found here. - Install “Pacifist“. This will allow you to install the HPPrinterDrivers5.1.dmg in the next step since trying to open the file directly will result in the error “This volume does not meet the requirements for this update.”
- Download the HPPrinterDrivers5.1.dmg from HP here:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Applications/ASU/HPPrinterDrivers5.1.dm... - Double click the HPPrinterDrivers5.1.dmg then open the HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.pkg using “Pacifist”. Select the “Contents of HewlettPackadPrinterDrivers.pkg” and click the “Install” icon. If a message appears asking about files, select “Replace”.
- Restart the computer.
- Connect the HP LasterJet 1018 to the USB port and open Apple menu> System Preferences > Printers & Scanner, then add the printer using the “+” icon and for the “Use:” click “Select Software…” and type HP 1022 into the search box and select “HP LaserJet 1022, 1.6.1”, then click “OK”
- The printer should now be added and able to print. Double click the printer to open the print queue and try printing a test page.

I have the HP Officejet Pro L7590. Never had a problem before with the MAC. Just downloaded Big Sur and the printer won't print. I have uninstalled it and then reinstalled it. Unplugged it and plugged it back in but nothing. HELP. I need my printer desperately

@User681:
I just tried this and it did not work (for me). I still get the dead end message "... may damage your computer". I've been working at using a Raspberry Pi as an AirPrint printer server and that is not going smoothly, mostly issues around configuring the Rasberry Pi for headless use as a server. I'll keep trying for a few more days and see what happens.

@Drmgr, I have a LaserJet 1018 so I'm not sure if the process I used will work for your printer. Also, as part of my trial and error, before I used the steps I described and after reading this post I had run the following commands in the Terminal app. I don't think this helped, but am including it since it may have affected on the process:
sudo codesign -f -s - /Library/Printers/hp/Fax/fax.backend/Contents/MacOS/fax
sudo codesign -f -s -/Library/Printers/hp/filter/hpPostProcessing.bundle/Contents/MacOS/hpPostProcessing

I am having the same problem. I uninstalled the printer and then tried to re-install, but I could not firn the big sur, version on HP, so I went to HP smart and found the printer. When I tried to print I get error messages it states "this volume does not meet requirements for this update" Is there something else I can do to correct this problem?

I have a HP Deskjet F2480 and a MacBook Air. I just installed BigSur last night and the printer driver no longer connects. Is there any hope in helping? I tried the Easy Start and it just said it couldn't find a driver.
