@Linkhersey, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer won’t turn on after being off for 6 months, here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

Check the Power Source

  • Ensure the power outlet is working by plugging in another device.
  • Try a different outlet if possible.

Inspect the Power Cable and Adapter

  • Look for any visible damage or fraying.
  • Make sure the power cable is securely connected to both the printer and the wall outlet.

Try a Different Power Cable

  • If you have a compatible spare cable, try using it to rule out a faulty cable.

Reset the Power

  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds (if applicable).
  • Plug it back in and try turning it on.

Check for a Power Button Lock

  • Some HP printers have a power button lock or a sleep mode that might prevent startup. Refer to your printer’s manual for any such features.

Look for LED Indicators

  • Any blinking lights or faint sounds can indicate the printer is receiving power but not booting properly.

Try a USB Connection to a Computer

  • Sometimes connecting the printer to a computer via USB can help wake it up or trigger a firmware update.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
