Microsoft Windows 11

I run a cheap Lenova desktop computer with Win 11 and Microsoft Word, Outlook and not much more.  Mostly used for shopping as I.m 89 now.  Can running the  all-in-one printer wireless to the computer harm my computer?  What if I run a wire to it?

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.

Congratulations on sticking around -- I'm working on making 89 years.

The short answer is "No, the printer is not going to harm your computer".

It sounds like perhaps the security software is overly excited about the printer being connected to your network and / or your computer.

This sounds odd, I know.

Windows and your security software does not usually suddenly have trouble with an installed printer.

Much depends on the source of the message.

If you clicked "something" on a website and suddenly you are seeing dire messages of doom, you might have clicked on a scam site and the site is now trying to trick you into "calling support" so you can be saved from the printer,.  Sites likes these pray on anyone who can be convinced to give up their private information and provide a credit card.  Ignore these people.

In general,

If the printer is working as you need it to do, you can ignore the message.

No, you don't need to connect the printer to the computer with a wire.

If the message is persistent and won't desist,

Consider ways to make it stop bothering you.

I know - that sounds distressingly vague.

What you do depends on where the message is originating and perhaps what kind of security software you are running.

For example, if the message started as described (click on a website and Poof!  Evil messages),

Use your Security software to run a scan on the computer to remove anything that doesn't belong.

Separate...

Is the printer software installed?
