HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows Server 2019

Hello all,

We are facing an issue with more recent HP printers, when printing from applications running on our Citrix Xen App environment to printers installed locally on the client PC. The text characters are being printed mirrored and upside down, as below:

TSant_0-1743186757119.png

The Citrix servers are virtualized MS Windows 2019 and we are using the Citrix Workspace 2402 (24.2.0.172) to delivering the apps to the clients.

In the past, the approach described in this thread (Solved: Standalone printer drivers for remote printing - HP Support Community - 8001495used to resolve the issue, but right now will not help anymore. Does anybody has any different attempts to resolve this?

(I picked one specific model of printer here, but it is actually happening with other models too).

Thanks

Hi @TSant

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like you're encountering an issue with mirrored and upside-down text when printing from Citrix XenApp. This is likely related to driver compatibility or configuration.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

1. Use the Citrix Universal Print Driver

  • The Citrix Universal Print Driver (UPD) is designed to handle a wide range of printers and can help resolve driver-related issues.
  • Configure your Citrix policies to use the Universal Print Driver for all client printers. This can be done in the Citrix Studio under Policies > Printing.

2. Update Printer Drivers

  • Ensure that the latest drivers for your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e and other affected printers are installed on both the client PCs and the Citrix servers.
  • Visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers.

3. Check Citrix Workspace Version

  • Ensure that you are using the latest version of Citrix Workspace (currently 2402). Older versions may have compatibility issues with newer printer drivers.

4. Adjust Printer Settings

  • On the Citrix server, go to Devices and Printers, right-click the printer, and select Printer Properties.
  • Under the Advanced tab, ensure that the correct driver is selected and that any mirroring or rotation options are disabled.

5. Contact Citrix Support

  • If the issue persists, consider reaching out to Citrix support for assistance. They may have additional recommendations or patches for this specific issue.

Hi @Hawks_Eye,

Thank you for your reply. Out of the options you suggested, the only one that we have not tried yet is the Citrix UPD. I'll discuss with the internal team responsible for that if that's doable or not, and will let you know about the results. It may take some time (from days to weeks).

Thanks
