HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

My HP Officejet Pro Printer continues to give the message "Missing or Failed Printhead" even though I have tried all the strategies I found on the HP forum board.

It would seem that purchasing a new printhead is the only option, but this part basically costs as much as a new HP printer.  Is HP really suggesting that the printer I have now is a piece of junk, and worthless as it stands.  Please explain what conditions cause this error message to come up, because for the whole life of my HP printer, I have subscribed to HP's "Instant Ink" service, so I don't understand the basis by which the printhead should fail after just a few years of use??  Are "reconditioned" printheads available for a reduced price?  Are there any other strategies to correct this error message aside from what's already on the forum pages? -- alexis3344
