I've had both of these printers since 2016. I've always used official HP ink in them. I have had little problems.
Today I tried to print to the OfficeJet 8710 and it showed "Printhead: Missing, Failed or Incompatible 0xc19a0023". I then went to my other computer and tried to print to the OfficeJet 8610 in that room and it has the same exact error message with a slightly different error code. I have not replaced the ink, I have not moved the printer, I have not even opened the printer up. They both show this error and this is the first time. None of my other printers or devices are damaged. We have not had a storm or electrical issues. We have all computers on battery backups. No one else has worked on these printers, they have never been serviced. They were working up until today.
Because the printers are out of warranty, I cannot talk to a human at HP. This appears to be either pre-planned obsolescence or an an update from HP that caused this. I understand that printers may have issues after while, but there's no possible way that both of them had the same issue on the same day on two unrelated computers, when nothing else in the network is damaged. All of the ink except black shows "depleted" but that was not the case just two days ago.
This is not a hardware issue but a firmware issue. The hardware is fine.
I have already read this and it has not helped:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03439615
I have already removed the power for 60 seconds, ensured the print head area was clean, and returned power. I have reset the printers to factory defaults.
I have already try the firmware update on the 8710 and made sure the latest firmware is installed.
I have done the same with firmware on the 8610.
Since a similar issue was reported with non-HP ink, and since HP was sued in a class action lawsuit, it makes me wonder if this is planned. According to this site, the OfficeJet 8610 is one of the affected products from another case involving firmware updates.
Please keep in mind, I am using official HP ink.
I hope someone from HP will reply! There is no viable way to report these types of issue if your product is out of support, but HP still controls your product through its automatic updated and firmware bugs. How can I report this issue other than on here? Can I try downgrading firmware, where can I find the older version?
