Hi @PNM1
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble printing after the macOS update on your iMac. Here's a step-by-step guide to help resolve the issue with your HP DeskJet 1510 printer not printing after the update:
1. Check Printer Connection
Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your iMac, whether via USB or network connection:
- USB Connection: Ensure the USB cable is securely plugged into both the printer and the iMac.
- Network Connection (if applicable): If it's a wireless printer, verify that both your printer and iMac are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
2. Reset the Printing System
Sometimes, issues after a macOS update can be fixed by resetting the printing system. This will delete all printers from the system and you can add them back.
Follow these steps to reset the printing system:
- Go to the Apple menu () > System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list on the left side and select Reset printing system.
- Confirm the reset when prompted.
- After resetting, you will need to add the printer back:
- Click the + button to add your HP printer and follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Reinstall the Printer Driver
It's possible that the macOS update caused a conflict with the printer driver. Reinstalling the printer driver can often resolve this.
Here's how to reinstall the driver:
- Go to the HP website and download the latest driver for your HP DeskJet 1510 model:
- HP Printer Drivers for macOS: HP Support
- Select your macOS version (Monterey) and download the appropriate driver.
- Uninstall the current driver:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and click the minus (-) button to remove it.
- Use the HP Easy Start tool to uninstall the old drivers or follow any instructions given during the installation of the new drivers.
- Reinstall the downloaded driver and then add your printer again via Printers & Scanners.
4. Check Printer Queue
Sometimes a stuck job in the print queue can cause the printer to be stuck in a "waiting" state.
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Open Print Queue.
- If there are any jobs in the queue, try to cancel them.
- After clearing the queue, try printing again.
5. Update macOS and Printer Firmware
- macOS Update: Check if there are any further updates available for your macOS by going to System Preferences > Software Update.
- Printer Firmware: Check if there's any available firmware update for your printer from the HP support website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
