HP ENVY Photo 7155 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I may need help "setting up" the 7100 HP printer.  I do have WIFI in the house but it's not needed for printing.  The printer is hard wired to my laptop, MS 10 system on it.

The printer does print copies but does not print from the many commands I have given it to print from the laptop.

Hi @PamKuehlman

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for sharing all that—it’s helpful to know the printer is working for copies but not responding to print commands from your laptop.

Let’s walk through a few steps to get your HP ENVY Photo 7155 printing properly over the wired connection.

1. Check the Connections

  • USB Cable: Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected to both your printer and your laptop. Try using a different USB port on your laptop.
  • Printer Status: Make sure the printer is turned on and there are no error messages or blinking lights on the printer's display.

2. Install or Update Drivers

  • HP Support: Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers and software for the HP ENVY Photo 7155. Download here.
  • Driver Installation: Run the HP driver installation package after downloading. It should detect the printer and install necessary drivers.

3. Set the Printer as Default

  • Default Printer: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners. Ensure your HP ENVY Photo 7155 is set as the default printer.

4. Troubleshoot in Windows 10

  • Run Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters. Select "Printer" and run the troubleshooter.

5. Check Print Queue

  • Cancel Pending Jobs: Sometimes, pending print jobs can cause issues. Right-click your printer in the Printers & Scanners settings and see if there are any documents queued. Cancel and try printing again.

6. Restart Print Spooler Service

  • Restart Service: Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter. Find "Print Spooler" in the list, right-click, and select "Restart."

7. Check for Windows Updates

  • Update System: Ensure your Windows 10 is up to date, as updates can improve hardware compatibility.
