The HP 7305 is found by my Mac os10 but will not print. It says I don’t have a valid ssl certificate?

I was told to find one at HP’s help hub but HP say they don’t have them and I should try another method. Hps’s App doesn’t work on os10 and I have gone through their troubleshooting process. Any suggestions?

@Robinredbeast, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding SSL Certificate Issues on HP 7300 Series Printers!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It appears you are experiencing SSL certificate issues with your HP 7300 Series printer, preventing it from printing. While it can be frustrating, there are steps you can take to resolve the issue.

Update the Printer Firmware: Often, outdated firmware can cause SSL certificate issues. Ensure that your printer's firmware is updated to the latest version. You can check for firmware updates through the HP Support site.

Configure the SSL/TLS Settings:

  • Access your printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering the printer's IP address in your web browser.
  • Navigate to the security settings and check the SSL/TLS settings. Ensure that the printer is set to use a valid SSL/TLS certificate.

Generate a New Self-Signed Certificate:

  • If you do not have an external certificate, you can generate a new self-signed certificate directly from the printer's EWS.
  • In the EWS, go to the network or security settings to find the option for SSL/TLS certificate management.
  • Follow the prompts to generate a new self-signed certificate.

Import an SSL Certificate:

  • If your organization uses a specific SSL certificate, you can import that certificate into the printer. Ensure the certificate is in the correct format (usually .pem, .crt, or .cer) and follow the import instructions provided in the EWS.

Disable SSL Verification Temporarily:

  • If you need an immediate solution and have tried the steps above without success, temporarily disabling SSL verification might allow you to print. This is not recommended as a long-term solution due to security risks.
  • Access the print driver settings on your Mac and look for an option related to SSL or certificate verification. Disable it and see if you can print.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
