HP Deskjet 3545
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have been trying very hard to connect my Windows 10 PC to my HP Deskjet 3545 printer.

These are the following problems I'm facing:

  • I'm having only single Cartridge (Black), as I don't do colour printing from it, Hence my Printer works on a Single Cartridge mode, which it is expected to do.
  • But, when I give any document (PDF of DOX) for printing a notification pops up saying the Printer is Out of Ink / Toner.

What all I have done trying to fix it:

  • Re-installed the Driver multiple times
  • Installed the HP Print & Scan Doctor and ran it to detect problems, nothing happened.
  • Re-booted the system multiple times
  • Updated and Re-installed the Genuine Windows 10 OS (64 bit)
  • And of-course, taken out the Printer's power cord while it was On and put it back after 60 Secs. Nothing happened.

I've done everything which was in my hand and head to Fix this issue but this Printer will just not work.

It is scanning properly but doesn't print even a single, other than it's diagnostics and Internal Test page.

I'm asking for Expert's advice here for what to do to fix this issue. Hope I don't have to throw it away ultimately?

Kindly help.

Thanks & Regards

Jashanjit.

@JashanMCF, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

This printer supports Single Cartridge mode. Try making a standalone copy in Black and check if that works.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your computer.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Check the ink level in the Black ink cartridge.

  1. On the printer control panel, press the Home button  to open the Home screen.
  2. Press the Down Arrow  to select Ink Levels, and then press OK. The control panel displays the estimated ink levels.

Perform step 10 and 12 from this document.

Let me know how this goes.

No,

Tried all the tricks mentioned above, wasn't of any help.

I think all the HP Printers should be made wired as their Network connection just doesn't work.

Thanks & Regards

@JashanMCF

The troubleshooting steps provided was to resolve the printing issue you are facing from your Windows PC.

What happens when you try making a copy in Black? Do you get any errors?

Did you check the ink level in the Black ink cartridge?

To connect the printer wirelessly to your PC, print a Wireless Test report to check if the Wireless radio is working fine.

  1. On the printer control panel, press the Wireless button.

  2. Press the Down arrow until Settings, is highlighted, and then press OK.

  3. Press the Down arrow until Print Report, is highlighted, and then press OK.

  4. Press the Down arrow until Test Report, is highlighted, and then press OK.

A Wireless Network Test Report prints.

Reset the network settings and connect the printer to the wireless network

  • Make sure the printer and the MAC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network.
  1. From the home screen of your printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon .

  2. Touch the Setup icon .

  3. Touch Restore Network Defaults or Restore Network Settings, and then touch Yes to confirm your selection.

  4. After the default network settings are restored, touch the back arrow, touch Wireless Settings, and then touch Wireless Setup Wizard.

The printer searches for available networks.

  5. Touch the name of your wireless network.

  6. Type the WEP or WPA key (network password), and then touch Done.

If you do not know your network password, go to Find Your Wireless WEP, WPA, WPA2 Password.

Once the printer connects to the wireless network, the blue Wireless light on the control panel turns on solid.

Let me know how this goes.

Hi @Kumar0307,

I've tried the above solutions you've suggested and these are the following outcomes:

  • The Copy and Scan function on the Printer works. Print from the PC doesn't work.
  • Ink level in the Black Cartridge is more than sufficient (More than half)
  • I've printed the test report, It's attached below you can have a look,

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1IsmgNzGU7xfv5Wru-QpDD_nlME8DdILy

  • I've Restored the Printer's network to Default settings and then connected back to the 2.4GHz Wifi.
  • It got connected after 1 -2 tries and the Blue LED stopped blinking.

After performing the procedure step-by-step, as suggested by you, STILL!! my printer doesn't print from my PC.

Hence, the problem remained unsolved after wasting time.

That's Unfortunate. Since the printer is connected to the wireless network, let us try printing a test page from the EWS page of the printer.

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  2. Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  3. If you get any security notification, click on show details and 'proceed to this website'.
  4. Go to tools > print a Test page.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

The image has been uploaded to a google drive which needs permission access for me to view the same. Instead, you may attach an image/photo of the printout directly in your next post.

Were you able to print a test page from the EWS page of the printer? If yes, then this is not a connectivity issue, could be driver related.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
