HP ENVY Photo 6230 All-in-One Printer

I saw a lot of other users with this same issue, but I have no idea what to do. I read that HP needs to message the instructions on how to hard-reset the printer. Please help. Thank you.

Hi @JorgeDomingues

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP ENVY Photo 6230 is stuck on the boot screen during startup, which can happen for various reasons, like a firmware glitch or a hardware issue. Since you’ve mentioned that other users have experienced the same problem, you’re not alone in facing this!

Here’s a step-by-step guide to hard-resetting your HP ENVY Photo 6230 to help resolve the issue:

1. Perform a Hard Reset on the Printer

A hard reset will essentially reboot the printer and clear any temporary glitches that might be causing it to get stuck on the boot screen.

Steps:

  1. Turn off the printer by pressing the Power button on the printer’s control panel.
  2. Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer. Leave it unplugged for at least 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  3. After the wait, plug the power cable back into the printer.
  4. Turn the printer back on by pressing the Power button.

This can often help resolve minor software glitches that might be preventing the printer from booting correctly.

2. Check for Any Paper or Obstructions

  • Ensure there’s no paper jam or any foreign objects inside the printer that could be interfering with the boot process.
  • Open the front access panel to check the printhead and paper feed area for any blockages.

3. Clear Printer Cache

If the reset doesn’t work, you may want to clear any lingering data that could be causing the issue:

  1. On your printer’s control panel, try navigating to the settings or maintenance options and look for a reset or restore defaults option if you can access the menu.
  2. If the printer is still stuck on the first dot of the boot progress bar and you can’t get into the menu, the next step is to try a firmware update (explained below).

4. Update Printer Firmware (If Possible)

  • If you can get your printer to connect to your computer, you can try updating its firmware to fix any bugs or issues that may be causing it to get stuck on startup.
  1. Go to the HP Support website: HP ENVY Photo 6230 Drivers and Software.
  2. Enter your printer model number (HP ENVY Photo 6230).
  3. Download and install the latest firmware update for your printer.
  4. Follow the instructions to install it on your printer.

5. Factory Reset (Last Resort)

  • If you still can’t get the printer to boot correctly, you might need to perform a factory reset. This will restore the printer to its original settings, but be aware that it will erase all network settings and saved preferences.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I already did a hard reset, checked for paper obstructions, etc..., and nothing changed. How do I do a factory reset?
