HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e All-in-One Printer

I rarely use my HP Officejat Pro 9101e and it has probably printed less thn 50 sheets the time I have had it. Today it tells me

The Print Cartridge cannot move Open the cartridge access door, clear any paper jam or obstruction, and select OK

It has never had a paper jam to my knowledge and there is nothing showing inside the priter. I feel I should try and centre the cartridges manually to fix the problem

Hi @AlanINCHLEY,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010eyou are not able to move the cartridges  to the center. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to the issue.

You can try manually centering the cartridges, but be careful not to force them. Follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Step 1: Power Cycle the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait at least 3 minutes to allow the internal components to reset.
  3. Open the cartridge access door and check if the carriage moves freely.
  4. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Step 2: Manually Move the Printhead Carriage

  1. With the printer unplugged, open the cartridge access door.
  2. Gently try to slide the printhead carriage to the center. If it is stuck, do not force it.
  3. Look for small pieces of debris or dried ink buildup around the carriage path and remove them if found.
  4. Once the carriage moves freely, close the door and restart the printer.

Step 3: Reset the Printer

  1. With the printer powered on, unplug the power cable from the printer and from the wall outlet.
  2. Wait at least 5 minutes before reconnecting.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.

Step 4: Check for Paper Debris

Even if you haven’t had a paper jam, there might be a small bit of paper or dirt inside.

  1. Remove all paper from the input tray.
  2. Use a flashlight to check inside the printer’s paper feed and around the carriage path.
  3. If you see anything, carefully remove it using tweezers.

Step 5: Perform a Hard Reset

If none of the above steps work, perform a hard reset:

  1. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds with the printer unplugged.
  2. Release the button, then plug the printer back in and turn it on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
