The printer takes often 2 or more paper from the stock. This is quite annoying!

Are you referring to the input tray? If yes,
Follow the steps below-
Step 1: Clear jammed paper from the printer
Remove any loose or jammed paper from inside the printer.
-
Turn on the printer.
-
Open the front door, and then lift the ink cartridge access door.
-
Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue.
-
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord.
warning:
To avoid risk of injuries or electric shock, you must disconnect the power cord before reaching inside the printer.
-
Move the carriage to the far left and far right, and then remove any jammed or torn pieces of paper.
-
Remove the duplexer cover.
-
Use both hands to remove any jammed paper from the duplexer area.
-
Reinsert the duplexer cover.
-
Close the ink cartridge access door and front door.
-
Reconnect the power cord, and then turn on the printer.
-
Try to print.
If you still have issues, follow steps 2 to 5 from the document Paper Jam Error to resolve the issue.
If it is the ADF, follow steps from the document ADF does not pick paper or feeds in too many sheets.

Thanks for your answer. It looks as if the problem has been solved by the indications you suggested. However, there was absolutely no paper jam! I downloaded the to references you gave in your answer.
