Hi @chriso4,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To resolve the issue with your HP Smart Tank 580 not printing from your laptop, reinstalling the drivers is a good step. Here's how you can do it.

Uninstall the Existing Printer Drivers

On Windows:

  • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Type control and hit Enter to open the Control Panel.
  • Navigate to Programs > Programs and Features.
  • Find your printer software (e.g., "HP Smart Tank 580"), right-click it, and select Uninstall.
  • Go to Devices and Printers (search for it in the Start Menu).
  • Right-click your printer and choose Remove device.

On Mac:

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer and click the Minus (-) button to remove it.

Download the Latest Drivers

  1. Visit the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page.
  2. Enter your printer model: HP Smart Tank 580.
  3. Select your operating system (e.g., Windows 11, macOS).
  4. Download the recommended driver package or the full software package.

Install the Drivers

  1. Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
  2. During installation, choose Wireless Setup or USB Setup based on your connection type.
  3. Make sure to connect your printer to the same network as your laptop if using wireless.

Test the Printer

  1. Try printing a test document.
  2. If the printer still doesn’t work, restart both your laptop and the printer.

Note:

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can do this from the HP Smart app.
  • If you're still facing issues, reset the printer by unplugging it for 60 seconds and plugging it back in.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
