Hi @Shane121,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like your HP Deskjet 3056A is having trouble scanning after updating to macOS Sonoma. This could be due to compatibility issues between the printer drivers and the new OS version.
Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot the issue.
Check for HP Printer Updates:
- Open System Settings on your Mac.
- Select Printers & Scanners.
- Look for your HP Deskjet 3056A in the list, then click it.
- If there's an update option, go ahead and update the printer software.
- If there's no update available, visit the HP support website and look for any new drivers or software for macOS Sonoma.
Reinstall the Printer:
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your HP Deskjet 3056A and click the (-) button to remove the printer.
- Restart your Mac.
- Re-add the printer by clicking the (+) button and choosing your printer from the list of available devices.
Use HP Easy Scan:
- Download and install the HP Easy Scan app from the Mac App Store.
- Try scanning through the app instead of using the physical buttons on the printer.
Check HP Smart App:
- If you haven't already, download the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store.
- Set up your printer again using the app, and check if scanning works from within the app.
Reset Printing System:
- In System Settings > Printers & Scanners, right-click on the printer list (or use Control + Click) and select Reset printing system.
- This will remove all printers and scanners from your system, allowing you to start fresh.
- After resetting, re-add your HP Deskjet 3056A and try scanning again.
Check Firewall/Security Settings:
- Ensure that macOS firewall or security settings aren't blocking the scanning function.
- Go to System Settings > Security & Privacy > Firewall and disable it temporarily to see if the scanning works.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
