Hi @MS1284,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When you encounter an issue where your HP 5255 printer's serial number is already registered to another account, it can be a bit frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to resolve this issue:

Contact Previous Owner: If you bought the printer used, contact the previous owner and ask them to remove the printer from their HP account. This is the simplest solution if it's applicable.

You will likely need to provide proof of purchase and the printer's serial number. HP has procedures for transferring device registration between accounts, but they will need to verify your ownership before proceeding.

If you have access to the HP account that the printer is currently registered to, you can manually remove the device from that account. Log in to the HP account, navigate to the section where your devices are listed, select the printer in question, and look for an option to remove or unregister it.

HP Smart App: Sometimes, using the HP Smart App can offer a direct way to solve this issue. The app might provide specific instructions or direct you to the right resource for unregistering a device or solving account-related issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
