I have installed hp smart. I can get the network printer to work but not the USB printer to work. Plus there are no scanning drivers. I use PaperPort to scan and save files but I can't see any drives there. I had another desktop about 2 months ago and had the same problem installing the drivers in that HP computer but had to send it back for other reasons. I have run scan doctor and it can see both printers and say they are OK but can only print from the network printer. As I have said I cannot see any scan drivers. The other day I used HPsmart and loaded and had scan drives in Papeport but today when I went to scan the scan drivers were GONE. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but that has not helped.
I noticed that under the main software and driver section for this printer there is one package and below there are a number of individual packages. I am not sure if I should just load all of them one at a time to see if the scanner works. Also when I had the last desktop before I sent it back I had twain drivers which worked much better than WIA drivers. This was the first time I purchased an HP printer and I have not been happy with it. It is so hard to get the software and drivers to work right.
