I just got this printer and while I finally got my computer to recognize it and I can scan.  My attempts to print are failing.  Printing a test page doesn't work-it prints multiple pages of gibberish, Word docs even worse.  Seems like is is using the wrong drivers or something.  This is set up in HP Smart.

Hi @Pauljac72,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there may be an issue with the printer drivers or the printer settings. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Check Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have installed the correct drivers for your HP 8010e printer. Sometimes, the default drivers installed by the operating system may not be the best fit. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website specifically for your printer model.
  • Update Drivers: Even if you have already installed drivers, it's a good idea to check for updates. Updated drivers can often resolve compatibility issues and improve performance.
  • Printer Settings: Check the printer settings in HP Smart to make sure they are configured correctly. Ensure that the paper size, type, and other settings match the settings of the paper you are using.
  • Printer Communication: Make sure that the printer is properly connected to your computer and that there are no issues with the connection. Try using a different USB cable or connecting via Wi-Fi if possible.
  • Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve printing issues.
  • Test Printing from Different Applications: If printing from Word is causing issues, try printing from a different application to see if the problem persists. This can help determine if the issue is specific to Word or if it's a more general printing problem.
  • Reset Printer: If none of the above steps work, try resetting the printer to its factory defaults. This can often resolve various issues with the printer's settings.

By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the printing issues with your HP 8010e printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
