Hello, I have just bought a new HP printer today but it is not working properly.
Model: HP ENVY 6430e
OS: macOS and Windows 10
Error Message: E9
Issue:
I have followed HP SMART’s instructions and completed the installation. At first, I can print the calibration page. After that, I would like to print another document, but the printer signaled that there is no paper (which was not the case). There are 3 control panel lights blinking on and off constantly (a red cross on the left, a yellow page at the center, a green downward arrow on the right), the side light is amber and there is an E9 error message. I have tried the methods mentioned on the HP troubleshooting page, but have had no luck. I restarted the printer but the same issue persists.
I also tried to reset the wifi connection by pushing the wireless button on the back for several seconds, but the printer light did not change (not like the case described by the HP support page). Now, the wireless light is out and I cannot bring it back. So, I cannot connect my computer to the printer. Weirdly, when I pushed the wireless button consecutively several times, the printer printed the Wifi Quick Start Guide.
I am so desperate now, please let me know what I should do. Thanks.

I have the exact same blinking lights and E9 error code, but my machine is an HP ENVY 6455e. It was working fine when I first set it up, but after a few days it started blinking like this. The HP Smart App lets me scan on it and the scanned material does go to my computer just fine, but I cannot print anything.

I have solved the problem. For anyone with similar issues, you may try restoring the factory settings using HP Smart and redo the setup (there are some Youtube tutorials), then everything should be fine. I have to say that HP Smart is really dumb that it could not even tell me what the real problem was. It just kept warning me that there was a problem without offering any useful solution.
