I just bought a new HP color laserjet pro mfp 3301cdw and I am having 2 issues with it. First, I'm trying to add the printer to my account and it won't accept my serial number. I know I am entering the correct information. I have checked it multiple times but it still won't accept it.
Secondly, it won't copy anything. I can print and scan (but I can only scan if I send it through the feeder, but not from the deck). Any help on these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @pbrown1825,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Let's tackle each issue one by one.
Serial Number Not Accepted for Account Registration
This issue can occur for a few reasons.
- Incorrect Serial Number Format: Double-check that you are entering the serial number exactly as shown on the printer, without any extra spaces or characters. The serial number is usually located on a label at the back or bottom of the printer or within the printer settings menu.
- Typographical Errors: Ensure that you are entering the serial number correctly, paying attention to similar-looking characters such as "O" and "0" or "1" and "I".
- HP Account Glitch: If you’re certain the serial number is correct, there might be a temporary glitch with the HP registration system. Try clearing your browser cache, using a different browser, or attempting the registration process later.
Copy Function Not Working
Feeder vs. Scanner Bed Issues:
- Since scanning through the feeder works but not from the deck (scanner glass), there might be an issue with the scanner bed itself. Ensure the scanner glass is clean and free from any obstructions.
Copying Settings:
- Check the printer settings to ensure that the copy function is correctly configured. Ensure you have selected the appropriate settings for the type of document you are trying to copy (e.g., black & white or color, single-sided or double-sided).
Software/Firmware Update:
- Ensure your printer has the latest firmware and software updates installed. Sometimes, bugs in the firmware can cause issues with certain functions, and updates can resolve these problems.
Hard Reset:
- Try performing a hard reset of the printer by turning it off, unplugging it from the power source for about a minute, and then plugging it back in and turning it on. This can sometimes resolve issues with the hardware components.
Test Copying Different Documents:
- Try copying different types of documents to see if the issue is consistent across all types or specific to certain documents.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
