Hi everyone! My printer tells me it has an update. I try to click yes on the printer, it won't let me. Do some reading, find I may have to download it with my app. Find it doesn't work on the app, have to use a computer. Use my computer, the thing says the firmware updater does not contain upgrades for your device.

How do I fix this? I cannot print anything. Yes brand new ink cartridges bought from Staples, all 3 colors and black.

Please help me!

@Rachel1106, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like you're experiencing a problem with updating your printer's firmware. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Verify Printer Model and Compatibility:

  • Ensure that the model of your printer is compatible with the firmware update available. Double-check the printer model and its associated firmware update compatibility on the HP website.

Use HP Support Assistant:

  • Download and install HP Support Assistant on your computer. This tool can help find and install updates for your printer.
  • You can download it from HP Support Assistant.

Check Internet Connection:

  • Make sure that your printer is properly connected to the internet before attempting updates. If it's connected via Wi-Fi, ensure the connection is stable.

Restart the Devices:

  • Turn off your printer and computer. Wait a moment and then turn them back on. This can sometimes resolve communication issues.

Check Automatic Update Settings:

  • On the printer, ensure that automatic updates are enabled. Sometimes, manual initiation can be interrupted by settings that prefer updates to be automatic.

Download Firmware Directly:

  • Visit the HP Support site for your specific printer model to manually download and install the firmware update.
  • Follow the instructions on the site to apply the update.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
