I bought an original toner cartridge but the printer says that it is not an HP original. I now got three different cartridges, neither of them works. When I put the old cartridge back it works just fine but there is no toner left.
I can not use my printer and can not get in touch with HP. Any suggestions what to do?

Hi @ChristerF,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw printer is detecting a non-HP cartridge even though you are using an original HP cartridge, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.
- Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that you are using a genuine HP cartridge that is compatible with your specific printer model. HP printers often have different cartridge models for various printer series, so double-check that you have the correct cartridge.
- Inspect the Cartridge: Carefully inspect the cartridge to make sure it's not damaged or tampered with. Look for any visible defects or issues that could prevent the printer from recognizing it as genuine.
- Reinstall the Cartridge: Remove the cartridge from the printer and then reinstall it. Make sure it is properly seated and securely locked in place. Sometimes, reseating the cartridge can resolve detection issues.
- Update Firmware: HP printers may receive firmware updates that can affect cartridge recognition. Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP website, and if so, follow the instructions to update the firmware.
- Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute or two, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear temporary errors.
- Clean the Contacts: The electrical contacts on both the cartridge and inside the printer can accumulate dust or residue, which may interfere with detection. Gently clean the contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth or an alcohol swab.
Keep in mind that using non-genuine or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause detection problems or other issues with your printer. HP printers are designed to work best with genuine HP cartridges, and using third-party or refilled cartridges can void your warranty or result in suboptimal performance.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for really trying to help me.
It is no doubt that my cartridge Is an original from HP. I have actually tried with three different cartridges, all original. One of them was sent directly from HP. Niether of them works.
I have done all the things that you are suggesting except for one thing. I have tried to update the firmware but the HP Smart app will not work for me, it seems like the problem is that I am a Mac-user.
When I try to contact HP, where I got one of the cartridges from, the message from Hp Is an autoreply telling me that my case is closed.
Finally, my printer runs perfect when I install the old cartridge but the problem is that the cartridge is empty,
How do I get help?? My warrant were out for some months ago.
