HP DeskJet 2852e All-in-One Printer

My printer has recently started causing an error when I try to print from my Chromebook. Only a cover page is printed out - it contains details like media limits, job id, Driver, etc. I was able to print from this chromebook until recently. Haven't knowingly changed any settings

Hi @MadamThick,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP DeskJet 2852e All-In-One Printer printing only a cover page from your Chromebook suggests that there might be a problem with the print settings or a compatibility issue. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

Step 1: Check the Printer and Chromebook Connection

  1. Ensure both the printer and Chromebook are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Restart both the printer and the Chromebook. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity and printing issues.

Step 2: Update Printer and Chromebook Software  HP printer setup (Chromebook)

  1. Check for firmware updates for your HP DeskJet 2852e. You can do this through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP support website.
  2. Update your Chromebook. Go to Settings > About Chrome OS > Check for updates to ensure your Chromebook is running the latest version of Chrome OS.

Step 3: Reconfigure Printer Settings on Chromebook

  1. Remove the printer from your Chromebook and add it again.
    • Go to Settings on your Chromebook.
    • Click on "Advanced" and then "Printing."
    • Select "Printers" and remove your HP DeskJet 2852e.
    • Click on "Add Printer" and follow the instructions to add your printer again.

Step 4: Print a Test Page

  1. Print a test page directly from the printer's control panel. This will help determine if the issue is with the printer itself or the Chromebook.
    • On your HP DeskJet 2852e, you can usually find this option under the "Setup" or "Tools" menu.

Step 5: Check Print Settings

  1. Ensure the correct print settings are selected.
    • When you go to print a document from your Chromebook, check the print dialog box.
    • Ensure that the correct printer is selected.
    • Check the print options such as paper size, quality, and layout.

Step 6: Reset Printing System (if necessary)

  1. Reset the printing system on your Chromebook.
    • Go to Settings > Advanced > Printing > Printers.
    • Click on the three-dot menu icon and select "Reset."

Step 7: Use HP Print for Chrome Extension

  1. Install the HP Print for Chrome extension.
    • Go to the Chrome Web Store and search for "HP Print for Chrome."
    • Install the extension and follow the setup instructions.
