macOS 12.0 Monterey

HP Laserjet MFP M277 has suddenly stopped communicating with my MacBook.  Nothing prints, printer always offline.  Yet I can print a Test Page and also print a successful Network Access report from the printer.

Have re-booted the Mac, the printer and the network router a number of times, no change and no success.

Hello @IanHargrave, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Since your HP LaserJet MFP M277 can successfully print a Test Page and Network Access Report, the printer is functioning. The issue appears to be with the Mac's printer connection or print queue.

Since you have already restarted the Mac, printer, and router, please try removing and re-adding the printer:

  1. On your Mac, go to Apple menu > System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Select the HP LaserJet MFP M277 and remove it.
  3. Click Add Printer, Scanner or Fax.
  4. Wait for the M277 to appear and select it.
  5. If AirPrint is shown under Use, select it and click Add.

If the printer still shows Offline after being re-added, please let us know we will help you with the necessary steps.

Have a great day!

I'm an HP Employee.
