It sat for a year.  Now when I tried to reconnect it, I get a little clock like symbol and some numeric sequence.

Hi @Cville2,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When an HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 printer displays flashing numbers and a clock-like symbol after sitting unused for a long period, it can often indicate a firmware or internal issue that may have arisen from inactivity. Here’s a sequence of steps to try and resolve this.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Unplug the printer from the power source, wait at least 60 seconds, and then plug it back in. Turn it on and check if the issue persists.

Check for Firmware Update:

  • Sometimes, flashing symbols can be due to outdated firmware. Connect your printer to a computer, and if possible, download the latest firmware update from the HP Support website.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • With the printer powered on, unplug it directly from the power outlet without turning it off via the power button.
  • Wait 60 seconds and plug it back in. This can sometimes clear out any internal glitches.

Factory Reset:

  • If the printer’s touchscreen allows, try navigating to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore to Factory Defaults. This will reset all settings and can resolve unusual behavior.

Inspect the Cartridge Area:

  • Open the printer and check that there are no obstructions in the cartridge area or paper path. Ensure that cartridges are seated correctly.

Reconnect to WiFi:

  • After resetting, you may need to reconnect to your network. Follow the WiFi setup instructions, which should appear on the screen once it’s operational.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
