Hi all

This morning, I woke up and could smell burning plastic. After running around the house, I eventually tracked it to the office room, and saw smoke pouring out of a hole in the side of our printer (Left hand side, just below the scanning bed). I cannot believe this happened, I do wonder what would have happened, had I not woke up with the thick smell of burning plastic.

I want to talk with somebody at HP, but I cannot find an email address, and the Virtual Assistant is not really worthy of the title "Assistant", its absolutely rubbish. Any help on who I need to talk with, would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Martin

Request for Review

  • I have submitted a request that someone review your question / concern.

Worth Noting

  • Our Community is not HP Technical Support, nor are we HP Sales or HP Service.
  • Our request for assistance on your behalf does not influence the outcome:  Our request is not a magic back door into HP Support.
  • The time frame (how long it takes) for a response is not controlled by the Community.
  • If / When there is a response, a Community moderator / agent will (should) post back on this thread before using other methods to contact you.

Note to those reading:

  • Do not contact random numbers posted in a public or private message by “new members”.  Vermin are looking for victims – don’t be next.
  • Please do not post any personal or case information here - we cannot make use of the data.
  • Posting personal information at a public site increases your risk from rats and scammers.

Thank you @Dragon-Fur, I appreciate your help. I hope somebody can point me in the right direction, this is not a normal malfunction, and I want to make HP aware of it. I cannot work out whether the burning made a hole, or was simply escaping from an existing hole. The stink was horrible.

You are welcome.

I understand.

What to do?

The  main thing, of course, is to not use the printer.  Yes, this seems obvious - you'd perhaps be surprised that people do not come to this conclusion on their own and continue to try and start the device.

Remove the power source (unplug) and move the printer to somewhere safe and away from your living area.  Porch, garage, patio, "somewhere" not in your immediate area.  If you cannot safely move the printer, at least make sure it is unplugged.

What else?

Wait for an agent to contact you as described in my first post.

Know going in that we are not HP Support - we do have the means to forward the concern - this has been done.

The situation can be sorted even if the results are not instantaneous.

I am glad you are OK.

Stay Safe.
