Hi @LooLoo89,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're facing an issue with your 5200 printer not printing after initially working fine when you returned home. Here's a step-by-step troubleshooting guide to help resolve common printing issues:
Check Printer Connections: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. This includes checking USB connections or ensuring your wireless printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
Check Printer Status: Ensure the printer is turned on and not displaying any error messages, lights, or codes. If there are any error indications, refer to the printer's manual or online support for specific troubleshooting steps.
Check Ink or Toner Levels: Low ink or toner can cause printing issues. Check the levels and replace cartridges if necessary.
Check the Print Queue: Sometimes, stuck print jobs can halt printing. Go to the "Devices and Printers" section in your computer's control panel, right-click on your printer, and select "See what's printing" to check the print queue. If there are any stuck jobs, cancel them.
Set as Default Printer: If you removed your old 4100 printer from the computer, make sure the 5200 printer is set as the default printer. Go to "Devices and Printers" in your control panel, right-click on the 5200 printer, and select "Set as default printer."
Driver Update/Reinstallation: Printer drivers can become outdated or corrupt. Visit the manufacturer's website to download the latest driver for your 5200 printer model. Uninstall the current driver from your computer before installing the new one.
Restart Printer and Computer: A simple restart can resolve many issues. Turn off your printer, wait a few seconds, and turn it back on. Restart your computer as well.
Check for Software Conflicts: If you've recently installed new software, it could be causing conflicts with your printer. Try uninstalling recent software to see if that resolves the issue.
Try Printing from Another Device: This can help determine if the issue is with the printer itself or the connection to your computer. Try printing from another computer or a smartphone, if possible.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
