Need driver Windows 7 driver for HP Envy 6555e.

They are connected to computers that run old mechanical equipment that are not connected to the network/Internet.

@KikoJones,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Unfortunately, it appears that the HP ENVY 6555e does not officially support Windows 7. HP lists Windows 10 and Windows 11 as its supported Windows operating systems, so there is no guarantee that the printer's full printing and scanning functionality will work with Windows 7 (64-bit).

I understand that your computers are connected to older mechanical equipment and must remain isolated from the Internet. In that situation, I would not recommend connecting those computers to the Internet simply to install printer software.

There is one possible workaround you could investigate:

A volunteer in another HP Community discussion (@ferRX) shared the following HP-hosted HP Easy Start installer for the ENVY 6555e: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/EN6500/HPEasyStart-16.5.6-EN6500_61_0_1959_1_Webp....

However, mind you, this is not a confirmed Windows 7-compatible, fully offline driver package. You could download it on an Internet-connected computer and transfer it using a USB flash drive, but the installer may require Internet access to download additional components. Compatibility with Windows 7 is not guaranteed.

You can find the related discussion here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Setup-Software-Drivers/Can-not-scan-to-desktop-with-an-HP-Envy....

My recommendation: If these computers must remain offline and continue running Windows 7 to operate the mechanical equipment, I would recommend using a printer with an explicitly supported Windows 7 (64-bit) driver and a complete offline installation package*.

Before purchasing another printer, verify that its manufacturer provides the necessary legacy driver and that the printer can be installed and operated directly over USB without Internet access.

I realize this may not be the answer you were hoping for, but I would rather clarify the compatibility limitations than suggest a driver that may not work in your environment.

* Speaking of (older) HP printers with documented Windows 7 (64-bit) compatibility and full-feature driver packages, I got two options for you. For a computer that must remain isolated from the Internet, I would investigate these two models:

1. HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn:

(This one would be my first choice) -A monochrome laser multifunction printer offering printing, scanning, copying and faxing over USB or Ethernet.

HP explicitly lists full-software installation support for Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit). Its original retail package included printer software on CD.

Official downloads:

HP drivers and software

HP-hosted full-solution installer

2. HP OfficeJet Pro 8710:

A color inkjet multifunction printer offering printing, scanning, copying and faxing, with USB and Ethernet connectivity.

HP's specifications explicitly list Windows 7 in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, and identify a CD/DVD drive or Internet connection as the software-installation option.

Official downloads:

HP drivers and software

HP-hosted full-feature software package

Important qualification for the mechanical equipment:

Although these models have documented Windows 7 compatibility, I would verify the complete installation offline before purchasing either printer. A package downloaded from HP is not necessarily guaranteed to complete installation without contacting HP's servers.

Download the appropriate package on a separate Internet-connected computer, transfer it using approved removable media, and test printing and scanning on a non-production Windows 7 (64-bit) computer. For the M127fn, I would also look for a unit supplied with its original software CD.

Both are discontinued models, so availability will generally be through used or refurbished equipment.

My recommendation: Start with the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn if monochrome printing is sufficient. It has particularly clear documentation of Windows 7 full-software support and is a sensible candidate for a dedicated, offline workstation.

Kind Regards,
