I have a new computer that I want to use with my OfficeJet 4315 printer - including scanning.  This link does not help - it doesn't have the actual driver - it just gives directions about using Windows Built In driver - and Windows doesn't recognize this printer.  Where can I get the actual download of the driver for this printer, please?    Thank you!

Hello @Geri511 ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Your printer is very old!

Maybe this information will help you here: HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your response.  I tried that option already, but my printer didn't show up in the list of printers.  I'll give it another try.

@Andr-1611

Apologies for jumping in unannounced.

@Geri511

The Windows 10 print drivers do not include your printer series (I just checked).

What to do?

Honestly, this is way outside of my area of expertise - but I can offer a possible glimmer of hope.

Possibly one of these - the actual download, should you want to try it, is in the catalog...

 HP Inc. - Other hardware, Printer - Officejet 4300 series (DOT4)Windows 10 and later drivers,Windows 10 and Later Servicing Drivers for testingDrivers (Other Hardware)9/15/201512.3.0.213.2 MB

The second one, at least, does not say "servicing" - I don't know what that means, but it might be "odd".

OR.. could be one of the driver pieces on the page.   ?  Or none.  Could be dead-end.

What to make it work?

Again, BIG guess:

This  may be relevant to Windows 10 - after all, even "10" still has lots of previous windows elements living inside it...

HP Printers - Installing an Alternate USB Print Driver (Windows 😎

NOTE:

Assuming the alternate / recommended  "Deskjet" driver works at all - if the port needs to be changed to DOT4, this document explains  how to do that.

What else?

No idea - like I said, way outside of my area of expertise...

You might be able to find a way to get the printer to at least function on a basic level.

Like @Andr-1611 says, this is a dinosaur printer.

Good Luck.
