HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer

A family member created the hp account and now has lost the passwords. This printer has not been used in over a year due to this and a WiFi issue.  I have different WiFi and can’t  set it up because no one knows the password on the printer account.

Hi @Nopasswordworks ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to reset the HP account password associated with your HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer, you can follow these steps:

1. Reset the HP Account Password

  • Visit the HP Account password reset page: https://account.hp.com.
  • Click on Forgot your password? under the sign-in fields.
  • Enter the email address associated with the HP account and follow the prompts to reset the password. You'll likely receive a password reset email.
  • Once you reset the password, you can log in to the HP account to manage the printer settings and update information.

2. Reset the Printer’s Wi-Fi Settings

If the printer is still connected to the old Wi-Fi network, you can reset its network settings to reconnect to the new Wi-Fi:

  • Hard Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer and unplug it. Wait for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Reset Network Settings:
    • Press the Wireless button on the printer's control panel.
    • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds. This will reset the network settings on the printer, allowing you to set it up again with your new Wi-Fi.

3. Set Up the Printer with the New Wi-Fi

  • HP Smart App:
    • Download and open the HP Smart app on your smartphone or computer.
    • Add your printer and follow the prompts to set it up with the new Wi-Fi network.
  • Alternatively, you can use the WPS method if your router supports it:
    • On the printer, press the Wireless button and hold it until the light starts blinking.
    • Press the WPS button on your router to establish a connection.

If you're still having trouble after resetting the password or reconnecting to Wi-Fi,

Refer to this document: HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
