Hi @Burrone,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Setting up your HP printer for the first time involves several steps to ensure your device is ready to use. Here is a detailed guide to help you through the process.

1. Unbox and Prepare the Printer

  • Unpack the Printer: Remove the printer from its box and all packing materials, including tapes and protective films.
  • Power up the Printer: Connect the power cord to the printer and an electrical outlet. Press the power button to turn on the printer.

2. Install Ink Cartridges (if applicable)

  • Open the Ink Cartridge Access Door: Wait for the carriage to move to the access area.
  • Install the Cartridges: Insert each ink cartridge into its corresponding slot carefully until it clicks into place.
  • Close the Access Door: Once the cartridges are securely installed.

3. Load Paper into the Tray

  • Open the Paper Tray: Pull out the tray and load it with plain, white paper.
  • Adjust the Paper Width Guides: Make sure the guides fit snugly against the paper without bending it.

4. Connect the Printer to Your Network

  • Wired Connection: Connect the Ethernet cable to the printer and your router if you prefer a wired setup.
  • Wireless Connection: Use the printer's touchscreen or control panel to access the network setup wizard, select your Wi-Fi network, and enter the password.
  • USB Connection: Connect the printer directly to your computer using a USB cable (you may need to install drivers first).

5. Install Printer Software and Drivers

  • Visit the HP Support Website: Go to support.hp.com and enter your printer model number to download the appropriate software and drivers.
  • Follow the On-Screen Instructions: Launch the setup file you downloaded and follow the installation steps to connect your printer to your computer.

6. Complete the Setup

  • Print a Test Page: Once the software installation is complete, print a test page to ensure everything is working correctly.
  • Register Your Printer: Consider registering your printer with HP for updates and support.

7. Set Up HP App (Optional)

  • Download the App: Install the HP App from your device's app store for additional features and remote management.
  • Add Your Printer: Follow in-app instructions to add and manage your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
