According to the box I can choose to use HP+ and if I choose it I will need an ongoing connection to the internet. I don't want it and I really thought I had a choice.
So I opened the box and read the guide: no choice! The printer must remain connected to the internet!
I was a happy HP-user for 16 years: I bought a secondhand HP deskjet in 2006 and until last year it worked just fine though using a cable off course. Never needed the internet for it. But now I have to have an internet connection even after installing?? Why?? What kind of attitude is this? I don't need anyone to track my use! I don't need updates! If it works, it works! Let me choose!
I didn't take the plastic foil off yet. Still not sure whether I'll keep it or bring it back.

Hi, I just chatted with HP customer service and they claim, if you don't opt for HP+ or Instant Ink, it is possible to print without internet connection. You only need it when installing. I will do the setup now. I'll be back on this.
