Product: OfficeJet 3830
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and older
I purchased a HP OfficeJet 3830 printer. I have an older Mac G5 computer running Classic OS 10.4.11. I need compatible software to print out older "Classic" docs. Has anyone solve this issue?

Hi,
I afraid there is no software for such an older operating system, the printer is supported on Mac OS X 10.8 or later versions, not on earlier versions:

You may try installing an alternate driver and check if that helps to allow printing:
- Download and install a driver for an older product such as the Officejet 4500 printer:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL32443/mp-80352-1/OJ4500vG510g-m_Mac.dmg - When you are prompt to connect the device, skip the step to complete the installation.
- Power on the printer and connect it to the Mac with a USB or through the wireless network.
- Add the printer by selecting the USB printer or by using IP to add the printer's IP address, click the wireless icon on the bottom of the printer screen to locate its IP Address.
Note: you may follow the below steps to add a printer to Mac OS X 10.4:
https://okiprinting-en-gb.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/468/~/how-do-i-print-using-ipp-from-m... - Within the Print Using menu select the HP Oddicejet 4500 model and press Add, then try printing using the newly added print queue.
Hope that may work,
Shlomi
