Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My M277dw printer automatically downloaded and installed a firmware update last night.

The datecode on the printer now shows 20160606.

The update took me by surprise as I was in the middle of a printing session.

Is this a genuine update?  If so where can I find the release notes as this version does not appear on the driver download pages.

@Robert069,

All firmware update are direct from the HP server. They are automatic from HP when connect to network.

I do not have detail of what the update fixed yet as not been posted for USB customer yet. The last two update were to improve network connection and the embedded web server looks.

You do not have to be concerned about melware on printer, as melware is a software based program for computer. Can not be installed on printers.  Think of printer firmware update are link updateing the BIOS on a computer.

Hope this helps.

Please turn printer off

Confirm the power is into the wall plug. (avoiding power bars and surge protectors)

Wait 30 seconds

Turn the printer on

Wait to warm up

Scroll to right to Setup and select it

Hi Tardis40

It is not a wrong date that is the issue, but a firmware automatic update (20160606) that was offered direct to the printer and installed, which went OK and the printer works fine after it installed.

My concern is that there is no information about what this update fixes.  the latest firmware showing on the driver download page is 20160331.

I would just like to know what this update addresses and if it is 'safe' eg not malware.

Thanks
