I have a new HP Envy 6000 series printer and I can't find any way to get it to print in colour. I have searched for black and white and greyscale printing boxes to uncheck and there's nothing I can see. It doesn't show up in paper handling or media and print quality. Can anyone help?! I have a Macbook Air running OS Ventura 13.6.7.

Hi @SB3021,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble with color printing on your HP Envy 6000 series printer. Here are a few steps you can follow to resolve this issue:
1. Check Printer Settings on Your MacBook Air:
- Open the document or image you want to print.
- Click 'File' > 'Print'.
- In the Print dialog box, expand the settings by clicking 'Show Details' if the print options are collapsed.
- Look for a section labeled 'Color' or 'Quality'. It might also be under 'Media & Quality' or 'Layout'.
- Ensure that 'Color' is selected and not 'Black and White' or 'Greyscale'.
2. Check the Printer Queue Preferences:
- Go to 'System Settings' on your Mac.
- Select 'Printers & Scanners'.
- Choose your HP Envy 6000 printer from the list.
- Click 'Options & Supplies', then go to the 'General' or 'Supply Levels' tab to ensure the color cartridges are properly recognized.
- If color options still aren't visible, try resetting the printing system:
- Right-click (or Control-click) anywhere in the Printers list.
- Select 'Reset printing system'.
- Add your printer again by clicking the '+' symbol.
3. Update or Reinstall HP Printer Driver:
- Ensure that your HP printer driver is up-to-date for macOS Ventura.
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest driver or software for the HP Envy 6000 series.
- If you're using AirPrint, switching to the official HP driver might resolve the issue.
4. HP Smart App Settings:
- If you're using the HP Smart app, check the print settings in the app.
- Open the HP Smart app, select your printer, and check the settings under the 'Print' section.
- Make sure color printing is enabled.
5. Run a Test Print from the Printer:
- Print a test page directly from the printer’s control panel to confirm that it can print in color without involving the Mac. This can help determine if the issue is with the printer or the Mac settings.

I hope this helps.

Hi there! It sounds like you're having trouble with color printing on your HP Envy 6000 series printer. First, make sure that your printer drivers are fully up to date by reinstalling the printer using the HP Smart app or HP Easy Start for Mac. Sometimes, AirPrint defaults can limit color options. Additionally, try resetting the printing system via System Settings > Printers & Scanners, then reinstall the printer. Although I’m more familiar with server drives, I hope these steps help with your printing issue!
