Hi @Kai2842,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Setting up a new HP ENVY 6055e printer and encountering the "Unable to reach printer over Wi-Fi" error can be frustrating. Here are some detailed steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
1. Check Wi-Fi Network
- Ensure your Wi-Fi network is working correctly.Make sure your printer and your computer or mobile device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.Check if other devices can connect to the Wi-Fi network without issues.
2. Restart Devices
- Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for a minute, then turn it back on.Router: Restart your Wi-Fi router by unplugging it, waiting for a minute, and plugging it back in.Computer/Mobile Device: Restart the device you are using to set up the printer.
3. Move Printer Closer to Router
- Place the printer closer to your Wi-Fi router to ensure a stronger signal during setup.
4. Check Printer's Wi-Fi Setup
- Make sure the printer is in Wi-Fi setup mode. This mode is usually enabled during the initial setup. If the light on the Wi-Fi icon is blinking, the printer is in Wi-Fi setup mode.
- If not, you can reset the printer’s network settings:
- On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button (or Wireless and Cancel buttons together) until the Power button starts flashing, then wait for the Wireless light to blink. This resets the network settings.Try the setup process again.
5. Use the HP Smart App
- Download and install the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
- Open the HP Smart app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer. The app should guide you through connecting the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
6. Check Firewall and Security Settings
- Temporarily disable any firewall or security software on your computer to see if it's blocking the connection.
- Ensure that your router's firewall settings are not preventing the printer from connecting.
7. Use WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)
- If your router supports WPS, you can use this method to connect the printer:
- On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button for about three seconds until the wireless light starts blinking.
- Within two minutes, press the WPS button on your router. The printer should connect to the network automatically.
8. Manually Enter Network Settings
- If the automatic setup fails, you can manually enter the network settings:
- On your computer or mobile device, open the HP Smart app.
- Select the option to manually connect the printer to the network.Enter your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.
9. Update Printer Firmware
- Sometimes updating the printer’s firmware can resolve connectivity issues:
- Ensure your printer is connected to your computer via USB.Download and install the latest firmware from the HP Support website.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
