Hi @Zrobnick,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

An "internal error/contact assistance" message during a firmware update usually indicates that the printer’s memory or network connection has experienced a glitch. You can often clear this by trying the steps below.

  1. Perform a power reset
    • Keep the printer powered on.
    • Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
    • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    • Wait 60 seconds
    • Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet, then reconnect it to the printer.

  2. Check the network connection
    • Ensure the printer is connected to a stable internet connection, as the printer may be attempting to complete an internal firmware or setup update.

  3. Try the setup again using the HP App
    • If you haven't already, complete the setup using the HP App and allow the printer a few minutes to check for and install any available updates.

Once you share a photo of the error message and let us know when the error appears, we'll be able to guide you with the appropriate next steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
