HP OfficeJet 6950
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!

I got a strange problem with my HP OfficeJet 6950 printer. Every print I do is only black and white, even if I want to print in colour. I read some other forum entries and people seem to have the same problem with their driver under Win10. If I move to the printer settings and go to the task "paper/quality" in the system control, I don't have any options to change from black/white printing to a print with colour. I mean, normally there where some options to change it. I tried to reinstall the printer mutliple times, but it keeps printing black/white. I don't have the old original driver disk at me, so I am not able tu install the good old drivers, unfortunately. Some people wrote, that uninstalling the driver+printer and reinstalling very old drivers solved their problem. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Printing from other devices in the same network on the same printer is fully functional with colour.

Best regards!

Hi @Weskero

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the  "can't print in color" issue.

Before uninstalling the driver's let's check if can resolve this by changing the settings on the computer-

Check the print settings for your print job in Windows.

  1. In the software application, you are trying to print from, click File, and then click Print.

    The Print window opens.

  2. Open the Properties dialog box.

    Depending on the software application, the button might be Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer, or Preferences.

  3. Depending on your print job, you might consider modifying the following settings:

    • Paper Type: If you are printing on photo paper, select the type of photo paper you are attempting to print on.

    • Print Quality: If you are dissatisfied with the quality of your printouts, increase the print quality. To print more quickly, decrease the print quality. These options typically include Best, Normal, and Draft modes.

    • Paper Size: If you are printing on a different size of paper than you normally print on, select the correct paper size.

    • Black and White: If you want to print in black and white only, select the grayscale option.

  4. After selecting the print settings, click OK to apply the settings, and then click Print.

If changing print settings resolved the issue,

Refer to -  Print Driver Settings Guide (Windows)

If the issue persists, then

ninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.

--->In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.

--->Select your HP printer.

--->Select Uninstall.

--->In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.

--->In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”

--->Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.

--->Type printui.exe /s and click OK.

--->Click on the Drivers tab.

--->Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.

--->Select OK.

--->Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.

--->Close Devices and Printers.

And then reinstall the printer full-featured drivers from software and drivers page

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
