Hello,

I have just bought a new MacBook Pro M3 chip running OS Sonoma 14.6.1 but unfortunately it is not compatible (Driver)

with my old but very good HP LaserJet CM1312 MFP Series  Printer .(Printer,Scanner and Copier)

Please could you inform me where i can find a suitable Driver which will resolve this problem.

Hi @Clive79,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP LaserJet CM1312 MFP Series printer is a bit older, and finding drivers for newer operating systems like macOS Sonoma can be challenging. Here are some steps you can take to find a suitable driver or workaround.

Check HP Support Website:

  • Visit the HP Support website.
  • Search for your printer model (HP LaserJet CM1312 MFP).
  • Select macOS as your operating system and see if any updated drivers are available.

Use Apple AirPrint:

  • The LaserJet CM1312 MFP may support AirPrint, which is built into macOS and doesn’t require a specific driver.
  • To check, go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click the + button to add your printer and see if AirPrint is listed as an available option.

Install Generic PostScript Printer Driver:

  • Sometimes, macOS includes a generic PostScript driver that can work with many printers.
  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click the + button to add a printer.
  • Select Generic PostScript Printer if available.

Use a Windows VM:

  • As a last resort, if you have critical tasks that need this printer, you might consider running a virtual machine with Windows, where you can use the printer’s Windows drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Firstly many thanks for your very prompt reply and secondly for the suggestions of how to resolve my old HP Printer /Sonoma14.6.1 problem.Needles to say, as the printer does not support AirPrint,  your second suggestion worked a treat.

many thanks again for your help
