HP OfficeJet 5222 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have had this printer for quite some time. Recently it has had trouble printing. I tried to reinstall the hp smart software and add the printer to my devices. During the process it states no driver available. What has changed that this is happening? Something is seriously wrong with this software and or driver for my product now.

@DouglasDupont, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you're encountering an error stating "no driver available" during the installation of your HP OfficeJet 5222 printer on a Windows 11 system, here are the steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Compatibility: Ensure that the HP OfficeJet 5222 is compatible with Windows 11. HP's website should list supported operating systems for each printer model.

Download the Latest Driver: Go to the official HP Support website and manually search for the latest driver specific to the HP OfficeJet 5222 and your operating system. Sometimes, using HP Smart may not automatically detect the correct driver.

Manual Installation:

  • Download the driver from the official HP website.
  • Once downloaded, locate the file in your Downloads folder and double-click on it. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.

Use Windows Update:

  • Sometimes, Windows Update can detect and install missing drivers for connected devices.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

Use Device Manager:

  • Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
  • Look for your printer under Printers or Other Devices. Right-click on it and select Update driver.
  • Choose “Search automatically for updated driver software.”

Reinstall HP App:

Check Network/USB Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your network or directly to your computer via a USB cable.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Found out the issue was a update that failed and caused the issue.  We are now printing.  Sorry and thank you!
