Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and older

Cannot use scanner function on new OfficeJet 5200  multi-function printer because HP does not support OS X 10.6.3. Have been able to use print and copy functions using Apple's generic printer driver. This iMac version cannot be upgraded beyond OS X 10.6. I don't want to have to return the printer: is there some software or workaround which will enable the scan funtion? Thanks

Hi,

You may try the 3rd party Vuescan application and see if that works as a workaround:

https://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/hp_officejet_5230.html#technical-information

 

Also, basic scanning can be done through the EWS page, only for a wireless connection, using the WebScan feature which does not require any software:
