The original driver for the HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 will not let you complete the installation. During the Installation, it will transition to a screen telling the user to use the HP Smart App. It is at this point it will not proceed with finalizing the installation of the driver. At some point HP altered the orginal driver to force people to use the HP Smart App. The HP Smart doesn't even list all the available paper sizes that the 7740 my printer can scan like A3 and 11 X 17 (Ledger). How do you force the installation of the original driver and bypass the "We have Better Software" screen. Using the HP Easy Start software finds and downloads the same driver I already download. This is so gosh dang annoying. How do you bypass the "We have better software." and force installation of the original driver?

When I sue the "HP Easy Start" software it downloads the same software driver I have already downloaded. If I let install at some point during the installation it always takes me back to the "We Have Better Software:" screen and will not install the driver.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with installing the printer software on your device.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I'm here to help you today.
Please follow the steps below to fix the issue.
A) Perform a power drain.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.
C) Install all the Operating system updates on the device on which you are installing the printer software and restart the device.
D) Uninstall the printer software by following the steps from this link and restart the devices.
E) Install the printer software by clicking on the link again and let me know if that resolves the issue.
Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.

HOW DO YOU BYPASS THE SCREEN THAT SAYS, "WE HAVE BETTER SOFTWARE FOR YOU" SO IT WILL INSTALL THE DRIVER I NEED TO USE?

Try to install Officejet 7740 basic driver
Also you can install HP Scan software
