I got given a HP Deskejet 4130e for free which was brand new, unused. I tried for ages to set it up although the guy who gave me it only had to black set up cartridge and had lost the colour one. It won’t let me set it up without them. I’m not sure if it’s still under warranty etc. How to do I go about getting new ones? How much will they be?
thanks

Hi @Kristy_1997,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand it’s frustrating, especially since you’ve got a brand-new DeskJet 4130e, but you can’t even get through the setup because the original colour setup cartridge is missing.
For this model, HP includes special "setup" cartridges in the box. These are different from regular ink cartridges; they contain extra initialization data that the printer needs during first-time setup. Unfortunately, setup cartridges are only supplied with the printer when new and are not sold separately by HP.
You can use standard HP 305 / HP 305XL genuine ink cartridges (Black and Tri-color based on region, cartridge numbers change) to get it working again.
- If you have regular HP cartridges, I can guide you through a bypass/reset process to skip setup mode.
Keep me posted
Take care and have an amazing day!
