Microsoft Windows 11

I have the HP Officejet 4650 series printer (with scan/fax/copy).  It has worked great for a few years.   After upgrading my PC from an old Windows 7 machine to one with Windows 11, it will not print in color (there is no option for it on the print dialog) or automatically flip to print the other side of the page (it tells me to do it manually).   At one point it did duplex printing but the top and bottom margins were way off.  HP Smart was of no help,  as it prevented the scanner from working.  Now it's the duplex printing -- which the control panel says is not installed.   I can turn it manually, of course, but I bought a duplex printer for a reason.  And I'd like to print in color once in a while too.
This is seems to be a clear incompatibility with the Windows 11 software.   Is there a driver patch for duplex and color?

Boy, I honestly don't know exactly what I did, but my HP Officejet 4650 is now printing both sides, with color, automatically.
I think I just never did have the right driver.  Tried that again, and it installed another "HP Officejet 4600 series" printer, so that there were 2 listed on my control panel.   The old one did not have the duplex installed (altho it said it did temporarily when I clicked UPDATE under the Automatic Config. menu) and the new one did have it.  So I made the new one my default printer ... and here we go.
So I guess the solution is to keep trying!

I have seen cases where the install fails to detect that the printer has the features you are missing. If the proper HP driver is installed all you need to do this on your computer. Go to control panel>devices and printers and right click on the icon for your printer and select printer properties from the drop down menu. Then click the device settings tab and scroll down the list of installable options and turn on the duplex and set the device type to color.

I don't have that many options under Device Settings.
And I don't see a place for setting the device type to color.

I did get the duplexing to read Installed by clicking the Update Now under the Automatic Configuration, though:
