HP ENVY Inspire 7220e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When selecting "Microsoft Print to PDF" I now am unable to select page size A5 as it is greyed out. Last time I used it 2 months ago it was a valid size. Presumable there has an automatic driver update which has now prevented A5 being selected. Any help would be appreciated in rectifying my problem.

Hi @leake2018,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for your message. You're right that “Microsoft Print to PDF” is a Windows system printer, not specific to your HP ENVY Inspire 7220e, and if A5 is now greyed out, it's likely due to a Windows update or a printer driver configuration change that removed or restricted support for that paper size.

Here’s how to fix it and restore A5 page size in “Microsoft Print to PDF”:

Check for Windows Updates

Sometimes a later update can resolve regressions:

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for any optional updates or patches.

Reinstall Microsoft Print to PDF (If A5 is Still Unavailable)

  1. Press Windows + R, type optionalfeatures.exe, and press Enter.
  2. In the Windows Features dialogue:
    • Scroll down and uncheck Microsoft Print to PDF.
    • Click OK and restart your computer.
  3. After restart, repeat Step 1, but this time:
    • Check Microsoft Print to PDF.
    • Click OK to reinstall it.

This refreshes the print-to-PDF driver and restores default settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
